Still never ending fabric collections
The following two collections are by Moda. Nells Flower Shop and Chelsea's Botique. I purchased these just because I got them at a really good price. I'm still not sure what I will do with them but they are still pretty. The orange and black fabrics would make a great Halloween or Fall quilt. These may eventually be divided into my fat quarter baskets by color to use throughout other projects.
Never Ending Fabric Collections
I thought I would start a discussion on our never-ending fabric collections. You know the ones....the ones that we absolutely had to have! The ones that continue to stay in our collection and never actually (yet!) are used in a quilt, bag, dress, etc... I realized this morning that I have several complete collections of fabric lines. I have started off with an old one. Moda Folk Art Christmas III by Robin Pandolph. I actually had another fat quarter collection of this in the brushed cotton that I did make a quilt from (http://home-and-garden.webshots.com/photo/2967780700063162451rEnsck). But then I found the fat quarter collection on eBay of the flat cotton. Of course I had to have it since I loved it the first time. This has been several years. It looks very pretty in the drawer.

Sewing Machines
Over at Sew, Mama, Sew (http://sewmamasew.com/blog2/?p=812) it is Sewing Machine Month! She has kicked off a Sewing Machine Meme and we have to tell everyone about our sewing machines. This will help anyone that is looking for a new sewing machine, or needs to know more about their current machine.
What brand and model do you have? My main machine is the Janome 6600 but I also have a Janome 300E (embroidery only), Singer Red Eye Treadle, 99K, and several Featherweights.
How long have you had it? About 4 years
How much does that machine cost (approximately)? ???$1999.00
What types of things do you sew (i.e. quilting, clothing, handbags, home dec projects, etc.)? Anything I can get my hands on...LOL...mainly quilts, but also bags, pillowcases (recently) and home dec.
How much do you sew? How much wear and tear does the machine get? Right now it has been getting 20+ hours a week.
Do you like/love/hate your machine? Are you ambivalent? Passionate? Does she have a name? I love this machine. Previously I had the Janome 9000 that was sewing/embroidery. I couldn't sew and embroidery at the same time. Now I can.
What features does your machine have that work well for you? Needle Up/Down
Is there anything that drives you nuts about your machine? Nothing at all
Do you have a great story to share about your machine (i.e., Found it under the Christmas tree? Dropped it on the kitchen floor? Sewed your fingernail to your zipper?, Got it from your Great Grandma?, etc.!)? We want to hear it! No
Would you recommend the machine to others? Why? Yes, I would recommend this machine, or actually any Janome machine. My very first machine was a Brother from Walmart and had so many problems with it. Other than my vintage machines I have only had Janome since.
What factors do you think are important to consider when looking for a new machine? As far as the sewing I do, Needle Up/Down, a good blanket stitch for machine applique, and I do like the fonts for labels on my quilts.
Do you have a dream machine? My dream machine would be the BIGGEST Gammill they make in PINK.

SEWING ROOM....
I hope to eventually post more photos of my sewing room (once it's cleaned up from current projects). This is a cabinet that I bought off of eBay. It was brand new, and retail on it was over $3500.00. The only thing wrong is a little part of the right front corner was broken off. I paid $80. It is full of fabric, both doors and drawers. Containers on it have fat quarters. I don't know what I would do without this in my room. Not to mention that it looks pretty darn good too!!

When I saw the preview of this line of fabric from Tanya Whelan, I knew I had to have it! To me it was like when the first previews came out of Moda Paris Flea Market, I knew I had to have that one too.
These fabrics are so great!!!! They are Free Spirit and include Jennifer Paganelli and Amy Butler. I plan to make a quilt for my daughter for school from them. Another one!! My daughter will be a senior at Penn State and I have already made 3 quilts for her!! Works in progress
The following pics show some of my WIP. The first one is called Emmy's Favorite from the book Floral Quilts from Grandma's Cupboard. I have already done two quilts from this book and they always turn out adorable. The next two are of a small wallhanging made from Tanya Whelan's Ava Rose fabric. This will be perfect in my sewing room. The last one is a baby quilt made from repro 30's fabrics for my new great nephew.
First Day!!!
This is my first day starting my blog! I plan to add photo's of sewing projects that I have completed, are in progress and hope to make. I do quilting, home dec, embroidery, etc... My favorite fabrics are quilt shop fabrics. Moda is definately at the top of my list followed by a recent liking of Free Spirit.
This morning I just completed two pillowcases for my college-aged daughter, made from Jennifer Paganelli & Amy Butler fabrics. They turned out great!
